This Friday, June 3, 2022, Alessandra Sublet is back on TF1 at the controls this time of the great competition of animators. And one thing is certain: facing her, we will not find Thierry Ardisson. Ten years ago, the man in black suddenly attacked his colleague… and didn’t stop for many years. Back to a media squabble that lasted too long.

It’s no secret: in the French audiovisual landscape, there are personalities who don’t like each other. Truly not. As old as that which separates Cyril Hanouna from Arthur, the quarrel between Alessandra Sublet and Thierry Ardisson has lasted for ten years now. As much time during which the two animators have not ceased to be inveighed by the media interposed. And it all started with the scathing comments from Thierry Ardisson.

The first review in a long series

Back in 2012. That year, Thierry Ardisson gave an interview to Paris Match magazine. Asked about the programming schedule, he suddenly decides to attack Alessandra Sublet, then in charge of C à vous on France 5. “Alessandra Sublet on the knowledge channel, it’s still a shame. She giggles, she laughs a lot. I even have the impression that she does more than that!” A year later, the opportunity was too good: while Alessandra Sublet leaves the presentation of C to you, the man in black attacks her again on the airwaves of Europe 1: “She was laughing , she boasted every night on her show that she had no culture, that she didn’t know that the war of 40 had started in 40. […] It’s a style of animation where you laugh to fill the void. We laugh, we laugh, we laugh to fill the void… It’s when we don’t have much to say, that’s for sure.”

A lover of old-fashioned television, Thierry Ardisson was then convinced that the French were as offended as he was to see Alessandra Sublet on France 5, which “was created as the knowledge channel, the fact of finding there, all in the evenings, Alessandra Sublet, it’s a bit paradoxical. Isn’t it? he hammered, without respite. And to add, almost for form: “I have nothing against her, she does very well, she is very friendly. There is no hatred, it’s just an observation.” Wow, you almost thought…

It must be said that Thierry Ardisson carries with him some bitterness. In 2016, on the set of his show then broadcast on C8, Salut les Terriens, he explained why he hated C à vous, a “parody show” in his view: “They stole the idea of dinner from us and now they steal the idea of formatted interviews. So it’s a parody show. And in addition it’s the channel of knowledge and knowledge so we’re surprised that he makes this kind of show”. Is this the real object of his wrath against Alessandra Sublet? We will never really know. On the other hand, the host, she very quickly knew how to defend herself.

The counterattack

At first, Alessandra Sublet preferred not to say anything, leaving Thierry Ardisson plenty of time to attack her for free. Then, questioned about it in 2014 on the airwaves of Europe 1, she allowed herself a joke about her opponent: “I think he’s in love with me. You know, it’s like guys who get you a little high because in fact they are attracted to you, but dare not tell you.” Sacrilege! Touched in his strong interior, Thierry Ardisson had replied with a great crash through… an open letter. “Alessandra, I met you once, four years ago, on the set of C à vous. I never flirted with you, I’m not in love with you. Sorry. I love my wife, Audrey Crespo- Mara.”

In 2017, Thierry Ardisson put a coin back into the machine when speaking of Alessandra Sublet in an interview with Télé Cable Sat: “I was unfortunately right to say at the time that she had nothing to do with France 5, the chain of culture and knowledge. She replied that I was old, jealous, at the end of my career. Good point. For her part, the main concerned had replied, always in a tone of humor, on her Twitter account.

In 2018, on the airwaves of RTL, the host added a layer: “The rare time I said ‘He must be madly in love with me’, he freaked out! I realized that Pépé Zinzin was still very first degree.” Three years later, questioned by Puremédias on this estrangement which has lasted too long, Alessandra Sublet this time made fun of the media absence of Thierry Ardisson: “I want to ask you: what is is he doing grandpa Zinzin at the moment? Before being more serious about all this unpacking: “At the time, I was never bruised by Thierry’s attacks. It was the game. The only time I turned against him, he took it very badly because I ended up telling him that he must be very much in love with me (…) I have admiration and respect for Thierry’s career. career is still in progress, where his stopped” she declared. A few weeks ago, announcing the end of her career as a host, Alessandra Sublet had a few words for Thierry Ardisson: “I leave him the field free!”

In all this mess, there was a time when we thought things had worked out. It was in 2015, and Thierry Ardisson then assured him on Europe 1: “It’s true that I was a little relentless on her and that she didn’t deserve so much. I always need to have a Turkish face, it amuses me. But it’s like when I was little, that I plucked the wings of flies. It’s not something you have to do but we like to hurt the fly like that. I have to be a little careful because it’s true that it’s a little ridiculous sometimes.” But obviously, the clash machine has picked up again over the years.
